Why did you join King's InterHigh, and what has your learning journey with us meant to you?

I joined King’s InterHigh midway through Year 10 because of my struggles with in-person school, which led to debilitating anxiety; I had reached a point where I honestly doubted I would leave school with any GCSEs at all. Almost as soon as I began attending King’s InterHigh, I started to feel that perhaps I did have a chance after all.

This school has transformed my life: the lovely teachers, the amazing resources, the regular feedback on my homework, and extra support when I have asked for it have helped me get to a place where I managed to sit all my exams calmly and with confidence.

In addition, the flexible timetable allowed me to commit to extra-curricular activities; being able to attend dance, ballet, piano and band classes around school helped me to relax and also meant that I was able stay in touch with old friends.

What are your plans and dreams for the future?

Having spent the last 15 months re-building my confidence and conquering my anxiety, I now feel ready return to a local school to study Spanish, English Literature, and Sociology for A Levels.

After that that is where the fun begins! I am aiming to study sports journalism at university and pursue a career in media, ideally in and around football and Formula 1.

It has always been a dream of mine to travel the world – King’s InterHigh has helped me [re]-gain the confidence and develop the language skills (French and Spanish) I will need to achieve these goals.

What's something you've gained from online schooling that's really helped you personally?

I have learned so much about how to work independently, manage my own time and stay self-motivated. I feel these are skills all young people should develop.

Additionally, attending school from the peace and quiet of my room, away from the hustle and bustle of a busy school and the stress of feeling I was under constant scrutiny in a classroom of 30 other pupils, I have been able to re-set, re-discover the enjoyment of my studies and start to believe in myself again.

I am very excited to see what the future brings!
