The quality of King’s InterHigh School’s education is driven by its senior academic team. Meet these key staff members here.

Ashley Harrold

Ashley is the Executive Head at King’s InterHigh – overseeing the continued development of this leading online school. He is an experienced Headteacher, having successfully led Blatchington Mill School in Hove, Sussex, for 6 years before joining King’s InterHigh. He qualified as a history teacher at University College London’s Institute of Education in 2008 and taught in London before moving to the Sussex coast. He is skilled in school improvement and committed to inclusivity and excellence, with a clear focus on developing the whole learner. Ashley’s leadership is rooted in the belief that learning is a transformative force for good, and is driven by the highest expectations for all students. 


Paul Daniell

With an MSc in Industrial Management Paul worked in Production Management in the Automotive Industry for 12 years. Completing a PGCE with the Open University he taught at physical secondary schools for 10 years before creating King’s InterHigh Online School, teaching and leading the school for 14 years. At Inspired Online Schools, Paul is Head of Education Innovation, responsible for Learning Developments.


Penny Alston

Penny completed her initial teaching degree in South Africa before registering with the University of Pretoria to study for her Honours in Education Management, Law and Policy followed by her Master’s in Education Curriculum and Policy Studies. After nine years’ experience as Deputy Head of Chelsea Preparatory School and then Headmistress of Glenashley Preparatory School in Durban North, Penny joined Reddam House Umhlanga, a member of Inspired in 2018 as Headmistress. Penny is currently completing her PhD under the supervision of the distinguished Professor Jonathan Jansen at Stellenbosch University.


Fiona Henderson

Fiona comes from a fine art background and is an arts educator with over 20 years’ experience teaching and leading teams in Independent and International schools. Fiona’s previous role was as Faculty Head for Art and Design, at an ESF school in Hong Kong and at King’s InterHigh was Head of the Arts Faculty, including English, Modern Foreign Languages, Art, Photography, Music, Drama, Media and Film studies. She is now Head of Key Stage 3 – bringing her experience and love of learning and teaching to the Middle School years.


Catriona Olsen

Catriona is responsible for Year 10 and 11 students. She equips students and teachers with the tools and skills required to be successful. With a strong emphasis on belonging and building a school community that every student feels a part of. Catriona hails from Castlebar in Ireland, with a BA Information Systems Management and a University of Edinburgh Post Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education Computing. Catriona began her teaching career in Edinburgh before moving to London where she was Assistant Principal at London Academy. Moving to South Africa in 2014, she was Deputy Head Academics and later College Head at Reddam House Durbanville, a member of Inspired.


Paul Robinson

Paul oversees the pastoral and wellbeing needs of students who are studying their A levels at King’s InterHigh, as members of the Sixth Form. The Sixth Form team, which Paul leads, also assists with university applications, and ensure that students are doing all they can to maximise their chances of success when they apply. He is also responsible for all academic matters at King’s InterHigh. He ensures that staff deliver an outstanding quality of education that engages, inspires and motives all students, with the firm belief that this will result in the best possible academic outcomes. He has a strong interest in developing skills that will enable all students’ future success in their chosen pathway beyond King’s InterHigh.

Paul has worked in the UK and internationally in both the maintained and independent sectors. He completed his PGCE in Mathematics just under 20 years ago and holds a degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture. He is currently studying for an MA in Educational Leadership.


Alessandro Capozzi

Alessandro oversees the academic and pastoral development of our Sixth Form students, ensuring that they have a fulfilling and inspiring learning experience and are supported to achieve personal gaols and plan their futures at top universities and in exciting industries.

Alessandro has been a senior leader across two large schools in Sussex and Surrey and has led on pastoral standards and the curriculum as a Deputy Headteacher. He has also previously led on Teaching & Learning, inclusion and SEND, all roles he has enjoyed immensely. Alessandro has a MA in Educational Leadership and firmly believes that all learners can thrive through a challenging curriculum and high quality pastoral support that recognises and motivates student effort.

How we teach

Timetabled lessons are delivered in live, interactive online classrooms by a professionally qualified teacher. Students are encouraged to engage and interact throughout and have 24/7 access to multiple resources including the cloud-based lesson library.
