    The challenges 

    To maintain its competitive edge and meet the evolving demands of modern learners, King William’s College faced a distinct set of challenges:

    → Meeting the demand for flexibility: Several former students expressed a strong desire to re-engage with the College, but required a more versatile, flexible educational model than traditional frameworks allowed.

    → Curriculum expansion: While the IB Diploma is highly successful, the College wanted to introduce A-Levels to cater to students seeking exact academic profiles tailored to specific career and higher education goals.

    → Rapid deployment: Initially planned for a September launch, the school needed to accelerate the timeline to the start of the summer term (April 21, 2026) to accommodate student demand, leaving just four months to build a robust infrastructure.

    → Via King’s InterHigh (Online): Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Business, Geography, Media Studies, and English Language.

    → Via King William’s College (In-Person): Sports, Exercise and Health Science; English Language & Literature; Visual Arts; alongside core IB modules like Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay.

    "Having done my GCSEs at KWC, I was so pleased when I found out they were introducing A-Levels and it’s been great to be back. 

    I’ve found the King’s InterHigh teaching to be of a high standard and easy to engage with. I have enjoyed having a university-style setup where the first half of the week consists of lecture-style lessons and the second half is assigned to normal class/tutorial sessions. Classes themselves feel more like a 1:1 lesson with the teacher; you don't really notice the other students beyond the interactive chat boxes where students can post questions and comments. 

    I’d say that the format does encourage you to be proactive and self-directed but, if you need assistance, the teachers are approachable and supportive. In the subjects I’m studying, the teachers themselves are very knowledgeable with many having a background in academia or research (for example, I have a Physics teacher who has a PhD and previously worked at CERN). An added bonus is that all lessons are recorded so, if you happen to miss a class (or just want to go over a topic) you can easily watch the recording. 

    As for 6th form integration, the school-within-a-school concept seems to be working well in practice with plenty of scope to participate in KWC opportunities. You’re part of the community, just attending different classes."

    VAT charges explained

    The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

    We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

    For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

    To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.
