Catching up with our alumni: Niamh’s journey after King’s InterHigh
Niamh first joined our school community in 2017, studying with us all the way through to her IGCSEs. After achieving impressive results (including a 9-8 in Double Science, 8s in Geography and History, and a 7 in German), Niamh went on to forge her own path to her dream of working in fashion.
We chatted with Niamh to learn more about what she gained from online learning and what she’s up to now..
What first led your family to choose King’s InterHigh?
I had difficulties in mainstream education. Working online helped to build back up my confidence and retain my love of learning.
Do you have a highlight from your time at King’s InterHigh?
I will always remember how much I loved my geography classes.
My incredible geography teacher and how much fun she made learning — especially the 'design your own plant' project.
How did studying with us help prepare you for your next steps after school?
Studying with King's InterHigh helped me gain good results in a wider range of subjects.
Once you left King’s InterHigh, what were your next steps?
I took a gap year to decide on my options, then I did a year-long fashion course online. I then applied to university to study fashion.
And where are you now?
Currently, I have just finished my second year on the Fashion Atelier and Tailoring course at the University for the Creative Arts. This summer, I am interning at Miss Sohee Couture. Next year, I will do a year in industry interning at another couture house in London, before moving onto my final year of my degree.
What advice would you give to current or future King’s InterHigh students?
To believe in and be true to yourself. There is no right way to live life other than the way that makes you happy, so try hard so you can live your dreams.
