King’s InterHigh launches the world’s first online IB Diploma

King’s InterHigh, the UK’s leading online school, is now the world’s first to offer the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme (“IBDP”) entirely online.

Known for its academic rigour and well-rounded curriculum, the IB Diploma Programme is one of the most renowned and respected pathways to university and future success. Over the course of the two-year programme, ambitious students aged 16 to 19 follow their choice of subjects across the English language, additional modern and classical languages, mathematics, natural sciences and technology, humanities and social sciences, and the arts. The IBDP is also complemented by the Diploma Programme core, which covers the theory of knowledge, an independent research project, and pursuits across creativity, physical activity, and community service.

With over 16 years of experience and an alumni cohort of more than 10,000, King’s InterHigh is the world’s largest online school outside of the United States. Teaching the British curriculum since 2005, we are now adding the IB Diploma Programme to our unique online offering. Alongside an international education, IB students at King’s InterHigh will also receive the high-quality teaching and flexibility we are known for. Learners can study the IBDP with us from anywhere in the world through live, interactive lessons, in which our expert teachers use cutting-edge technology (such as VR) to create an immersive educational experience.

As an Inspired school, King’s InterHigh joins a community of over 25 premium IB schools worldwide. Educating over 25,000 IB students across the globe, Inspired is the world’s leading education group with 44 years of experience delivering exceptional IBDP results. In 2021, Inspired’s highest-performing school recorded an average score of 39 points, and students across Inspired schools regularly achieve the maximum score of 45. Upon graduation, 1 in 3 Inspired students progress to Oxford, Cambridge, the Ivy League, or Russell Group universities.

Starting from this month, King’s InterHigh is registering interest from families around the world. Together, these students will form the first cohort for the online IBDP pilot, beginning their studies in September 2022.

Mark O’Donoghue, CEO of Inspired Online Schools, said: “The launch of the first fully online IB Diploma Programme is a testament to our track record in delivering the very best online education in an accessible and flexible way. We have been leading in online schooling for over 16 years and our history of innovation in technology and leading edge online learning will reach a new level with this new programme. We will extend our integration of immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality into the programme and give existing and new students access to experiences that are a first in online schooling. We look forward to welcoming the new cohort in September and are honoured to be collaborating with the IB on this programme.”

Matt Costello, Chief BDO for the International Baccalaureate Organization, said: “We are proud to provide new opportunities for students to learn and thrive in a rapidly changing world. Partnering with King’s InterHigh, a leader in online education will enable more students, and more diverse cohorts of students the chance to participate in IB education programmes no matter where they are in the world.”
